活動レポート

It was my pleasure to participate the 58th/ 60th NIBB conference on Germline-specification, sex and stem cell. This time it took place at Okazaki conference center in Okazaki city, Aichi prefecture. Although were many researchers from USA, Brazil, Korea, China and Malaysia has participated this conference, I was able to communicate with them in English, Japanese and Chinese. There were several animals were studied in this conference, such as fruit fly, fishes, chicken, mouse, and primate. Although, there are a number of differences exist between the organisms, there is some conservation and homology-likes can be observed. Thus, many useful insights and interesting ideas have been manifested during this amazing conference. Especially, professor David Page had presented a great lecture on the oogenesis and meiosis. His amazing research work has completely challenged what has always been suggested oogenesis and meiosis. Although many debates still remain, his work really brought my attentions on the alternative relationship between oogenesis and meiosis. Aside from the fascinating lectures presented by many famous professors, there were some up-to-date works done by young researchers. During the 4-day long conference, the organizer had prepared amazing Aichi traditional foods for our lunch at the poster area. The mixer after the conference is very interesting too. This provides us the chance where we were able to communicate with many researchers, who are all interested at germ cell biology. Many sparkles really fly in the air as discussion carry on. After this conference, there so many new features I would like to add to my research project. Moreover, we were able to use this opportunity to visit the Okazaki castle, where Ieyasu were born. I am really grateful that G-COE let me participated this conference, not only I have grown intellectually, but also it help me a lot on my current research. In addition, I have gotten a chance to visit city that I probably would not have chance to do so in private. I really think G-COE would carry on and help young researchers to communicate with other research from around the world. I am sure this will allow Japan to become even more famous in research world internationally.
