The Keio University Human Biology-Microbiome-Quantum Research Center (WPI-Bio2Q) has released a video introducing their mission to explore the interactions between humans and their microbiomes (the diverse assemblage of microorganisms that exist in living bodies) at the molecular level.
As Japan's first microbiome research center, WPI-Bio2Q will combine quantum computing with bioanalytical methods to tackle the complexity of this research, in hopes that their findings will lead to new therapies for diseases that are currently difficult to treat.
The World Premier International Research Center Initiative (WPI) was launched in 2007 by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). Bio2Q has been selected to be a part of WPI in 2022.
