On October 17, 2017, Shinanomachi Campus welcomed a nine-person delegation from Peking University People's Hospital that included hospital president Prof. Baoguo Jiang and directors from each of the hospital’s departments.
The visit began with Keio University Hospital Director General Yuko Kitagawa and Prof. Jiang, who gave overviews of their respective hospitals. A discussion on the future of human resource development and inter-hospital cooperation followed, led by Keio University Hospital Deputy Director Morio Matsumoto, Keio University School of Medicine Vice Dean Takanori Kanai, and Department of Nursing Deputy Directors Eriko Kato and Miki Kataoka. Each delegate then met with hospital staff from their respective department to deepen mutual understanding and friendship through discussion and tours of the facilities.
Peking University People's Hospital is one of the leading hospitals in China with approximately 10,000 daily outpatients and a total of 800,000 patients annually. Since 2006, the hospital has strengthened ties with Keio through a student and faculty exchange program with the School of Medicine. Prof. Qimin Zhan, president of Peking University Health Science Center, also visited Shinanomachi Campus in May 2017 to participate in a range of celebrations commemorating the School of Medicine’s centennial. These visits have served to strengthen the enduring relationship between the schools of medicine at Keio University and Peking University, especially in the areas of education, research, and clinical practice.
