Keio University Hospital (Director General Tsutomu Takeuchi) was accredited as a Core Clinical Research Hospital under the Medical Care Act as of March 25, 2016.
Core Clinical Research Hospitals are authorized by the Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) as leading hospitals in promoting clinical research and investigator-initiated IND/IDE trials of high international standard, with the objective of developing Japan’s medical sector through the advancement of innovative drugs, devices, and technology. Implemented in the 2015 academic year, Keio University Hospital is the first private hospital to receive this accreditation.
Going forward, Keio University Hospital will endeavor to live up to this recognition and play a central role in clinical research that will address the needs of society. The hospital will further commit itself to patient-centered care, at the bedside and in clinical research studies. Underlying this goal is the Keio University Hospital Mission and current efforts devoted to achieving sustainable and sound medical practices based on the Keio University Hospital Guidelines for Conducting Clinical Research.
