Since the establishment of the School of Medicine in 1917, Keio University has been leading the Japanese medical world. In conjunction with Keio University Hospital, it has fostered highly capable doctors and has contributed to society as a core medical institutions for many related hospitals throughout Japan, while adhering to the original concept of core based on three fundamentals: technique, science, and humanity.

Keio University Hospital

Founded in 1920, Keio University Hospital has been at the forefront of Japanese medicine for almost a century.
Today, the hospital offers advanced medical services and is equipped with a complete array of facilities for research, development, evaluation and training. Each of the twenty nine divisions consists of a highly integrated medical team, which provides medical treatment at highest levels. With more than 1,000 beds, it functions as a general hospital, consulting around 4,000 outpatients daily. The hospital as also making improvements for safer and morepatient-centered care. At the same time, leading-edge network technologies are being adopted to send endoscopy and X-ray data via high-speed Internet networks.

Tsukigase Rehabilitation Center

Tsukigase Rehabilitation Center opened in 1977 as a pioneering institution for rehabilitative medicine. Situated in Izu, Shizuoka, the center is surrounded by nature, and it offers top-level rehabilitative treatment for those with disabilities caused by various disorders such as stroke, spinal cord injury, and so on. At the same time, the center plays an important role from an educational perspective, as it provides opportunities to students of the School of Medicine for on-site training.
