Medical Education Center
Mission
The Medical Education Center aims to develop, create
and introduce an effective medical educational system which fully
reflects the educational policies of Keio University, School of
Medicine*. The Center's activities are expected to widely contribute to the
development of the Japanese Medical Community.
*Educational Policies of Keio University, School of Medicine:
Nurture students with an independent mindset, decent personality and
profound intelligence;
Enable students to make decisions based on strict ethical standards; and
Educate students to dedicate themselves to the development/betterment of
human welfare
through life-long studies and practice of medical science.

Approved by the Faculty Counsel.

Activities
Development of a New Curriculum
The Center is currently in the process of developing a new curriculum in collaboration with the Curriculum Committee. It also conducts various projects including the introduction of a new faculty evaluation system.
Supervision of Examinations
The Center supervises the following common examinations given at
medical universities, schools and faculties throughout Japan.
Computer Based Testing (CBT):
A test which examines technical knowledge required for conducting Clinical Clerkship.
Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE):
A test which examines students' technical knowledge, behaviors, and skills
required for conducting Clinical Clerkship.
Faculty Development (FD)
The Center holds seminars on various educational topics and skills for faculty members.
Management of the Simulation Laboratory
The Medical Education Center operates the Clinical Simulation Laboratory for students, training doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff on Shinanomachi Campus. Trainees are able to learn and practice medical-related skills using a wide range of case studies.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Seminars on cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and AED are also provided.

To enrich the education environment, the Center provides a self-learning space for students.
